Kerry’s little Devils impress Reds scout

THE man who first spotted the potential of soccer superstars David Beckham and Ryan Giggs cast his experienced eye over promising Kerry youngsters at the weekend to determine if they have what it takes to make the grade.

Dr Les Kershaw, the chief scout with Manchester United, scrutinised young players from all parts of Kerry during a two-day skills promotion in Killarney and Tralee.

The event was organised by motor deal-ers Randles Bros as part of a novel Cars and Kids weekend promotion and it attracted hundreds of enthusiastic boys and girls anxious to show what they could do with a football.

The promotion featured a fun-filled keep-up challenge during which the kids had to keep the ball off the ground, using their feet and head, for as long as possible. The overall winner of that event was James Galvin from Tralee.
