THE Mediterranean like weather at the weekend made it the perfect setting for this year's annual Cork/Kerry regatta at Loughquittane Lake.
There was a fantastic turn out and hundreds of spectators enjoyed the competition whilst basking in the sweltering summer heat.
John Kelly, PRO of the event said it was a huge success:
"It was an excellent day, the weather was great and the conditions were ideal for rowing."
He also thanked the organ-ising committee and the O'Donoghue family for the use of their excellent facilities for the competition.
A poignant moment at the event was the presentation of the Maura O'Meara Perpetual Cup, in honour of the former St. Brendans oarswoman who passed away prematurely earlier this year. John said that her talent in rowing would always be remembered:
"She was a very talented woman and it's nice to see her remembered at the regatta. It made it that bit more special for everyone who knew her." He added.
Local sponsors this year were Heineken Ltd, Arbutus Hotel, Hegarty Body Builders, Failte Hotel and Leen's Tool Hire.
