Basic needs being sought

WE, the residents of the Black Valley, a community of approximately 80 or so people in a remote but scenic area, are writing to bring to your notice how much we would appreciate an updated phone system and mobile coverage.

These basic needs are available to the majority of the people in Ireland. Is it because we are a small community and our votes don’t matter?

It would be most important if the service could improve for the main tourist season, because during this period thousands of visitors come to visit the Black Valley and a mobile phone service is vital in the event of any major disaster.

There are a number of houses with young children who would greatly benefit from internet access. Also the school within the Black Valley would benefit from internet. There is a grant available to the school but what use is a grant for access if we cannot be connected?

This is a situation where you have the whole community backing a project. We would be more than willing to arrange a meeting with any politicians to discuss this matter further. Arrangements can be made by writing to: Black Valley Community Group, Gap of Dunloe, Beaufort, Killarney, Co. Kerry.

Black Valley Community Group,

Killarney,

Co Kerry.
